There’s no mistake, I smell that smell, it’s awards time of year again

As the end of the season approaches faster than an illegal immigrant running for a train at Sangatte, so the awards are being dished out.

Danny “Ouch!” Cipriani is young player of the year and  Riki “I’m nearly English” Flutey (right) is player of the year.

There were “outstanding contribution” type special awards for St Jason of Robinson, and BBC commentator and former England player Alastair Hignell who has retired after battling Multiple Sclerosis for a number of years.

“I couldn’t give a shit about this award,” Cipriani sort of said yesterday, “my ankle exploded at the weekend and my mood is very dark.  Leave me alone”
