England vs New Zealand is now called the "Hillary Shield"
"Are you sure it was left back there Tenzing? This looks nothing like Alton Towers"
In this modern age of sport nothing can simply be a Test match, especially if Sky TV and its bevvy of hype-inflating nonsense is involved. So it is no coincidence that the Test betwixt England and the All Blacks in November, which is to be broadcast via the satellite channel, has had itself renamed the Hillary Shield. This is of course after Sir Edmund Hillary; Kiwi and first man to conquer Everest with only a small oriental man and oxygen to assist him.
This is good news for England as it means we can follow the lead taken by Britain regarding that famous ascent in 1953 and claim it for ourselves. Thus, when (and it is when, not if) the All Blacks win at Twickenham we can say it was actually us that triumphed in the Hillary Shield as it was an English funded expedition played in the home of the Old Empire.
The late, great Sir Edmund didn't seem to mind that everyone thought he was British, and he scaled the highest peak on the planet. The latest All Blacks can't even get into a World Cup final so they would be churlish to complain.
