SHIT/GOOD™ Ratings - Heineken Cup Round Two
We missed last week due to being on our jollies, but on the upside this meant we had time to add another processor to the SHIT/GOOD™ computer. By processor we mean the motherboard from a 1989 Casio calculator. Let's see which players the computerising beast has come up with this time. Don't forget to put your own rated players in the comments.
SHIT
Jeremy Staunton - Wasps took a pasting of such magnitude from Leinster that it resembled a contest between MAx Mosley's arse and a whip rather than the elite of european rugby going head to head. There were a few poor performances from the London side, but Staunton at full-back was the most foul.
James Simpson-Daniel - We love JSD on this blog, but it's time for some tough love this week. His form has been nowhere near the standard of the last and he is struggling with Gloucester's appalling lack of ambition.
Phillipe Saint-Andre - We all knew that accomodating both Peel and Wigglesworth in the squad was going to be difficult. However, none of us predicted Phillipe would solve it by dropping Charlie Hodgson and putting Wigglesworth at out-half against a team as strong as Munster. The stupidity of it was emphasised when a Hodgson-inserted Sale came back so strongly in the second half. By then it was too late
GOOD
Andy Powell - A powerhouse performance from the Blues No 8, made the more impressive by the fact that his scrum was going backwards for most of the game. Carried all day and usually busted the gain-line. Looks more likely to get a Wales call that Michael Owen at present.
Danny Care - Another appearance in the GOOD for the diminuitive scrum-half (all the best ones are) after he was the heart of the mauling Quins dished out the currently hapless Ulster. His form this season is irresistable, and if that cocky joker Harry Ellis gets the nod for England in November this correspondent may be forced to go on a killing spree.
Napolioni Vonowale Nalaga - Two tries in an impressive win for Clermont over Montauban, the young winger looks the real deal. But, to be honest, he would have got in for the name alone.
