10 Things We Learned from... the Autumn Internationals
1. The Southern Hemisphere is much better at rugby than the Northern one.
2. South African referees are either blind, insane, incompetent or all of the above.
3. On current form, the only English player who is in with a sniff of a Lions Test place is Paul Sackey.
4. Despite popular belief, Martin Johnson is not a mixture of Jesus Christ, Barack Obama and Clive Woodward.
5. Ireland are as frustrating as ever
6. Australia have a forward pack once more that is worthy of the name. No small achievement when you remember their national player base numbers about 87 plus the bloke that carries the sponges.
7. Suprisingly, Scotland are not completely shit - they have handed that title over to the English
8. Wales are the best team in Europe by a long chalk, despite having one of their best players injured. Another Grand Slam beckons in the Spring.
9. A single format of the ELV's needs to be agreed worldwide very soon. The time has come to stop politicking and just get on with it as the hotch-potch is doing no-one any favours; least of all the European nations who are so far behind in breakdown skills they would be sacked by the RAC for gross misconduct.
10. New Zealand are still, as always, the best team in the world. We look forward to them not winning the next World Cup.
