Only in rugby could this happen.  Moreover, only in French rugby could this happen.

Fair play to the man for trying, but to say he didn't offer much in the way of pugilistic ability is an understatement.

Bet he could still take Iain Balshaw, though.

I know this is from RL, but I couldn't pass up the chance to put this up on here.  Massive fight on the pitch, two lads get sin-binned so they obviously start another huge bust up as they are leaving the pitch as well, this time involving the subs bench, staff, the lot.

Brilliant.

Some game in Romania erupts into a G20-demonstration-level pitched battle that swarms all over the pitch.*  Check out the "punch" on 38 seconds, it misses by about two feet and is probably the worst punch I have ever seen on a rugby field . 

*No newspaper sellers were harmed.

This was nearly a quite glorious try for the All Blacks, instead it turned into a bit of biff with added advertising hoarding-endangerment between two of the more unlikely pugilists of the game.  Cracking stuff.

Rugby fight video: Paul O'Connell vs Jamie Cudmore

Munster vs Clermont last December.  It all gets a bit lairy at a lineout, Munster captain Paul O'Connell steps in to calm it all down a bit and fails miserably by completely blowing his stack on opposite lock Jamie Cudmore; cue much on-floor haymaking.  Brilliant stuff.

We all know that the best fights in the entire rugby world happen in the French domestic championship. It would be a shame to waste all that practice on the international stage, so here are the France laying into the Aussies this past summer.  Watch out for No 8, Imanol Harinordoquy, getting off the a number of upper-cuts at a ferocious pace in the middle of the melee.

Rugby Video: The fondest memory we will have of Josh Lewsey

Lewsey did much for England; scored 22 tries for example, and was one of the few bright sparks in the dark, dark days of the Andy Robinson era.  However, this tackle is what we will all remember in ten years time.  That and the fact that he chinned Danny Cipriani out cold.
