Men Who Look Like Roger Uttley, No 8: Magnum PI!

It's been a while since we had an Uttleylike, and frankly I blame you lot out there for being too lazy to send me any, so I hope you will all follow the example of Mudster Oli Kindersley who has come up with this cracker.

Not only does Oli get points due to Magnum looking like our Lions hero, he earns a bonus for giving us a chance to listen to one of the most spectacular theme tunes in TV history.  And it's nearly Friday!  Does life get any better?

This Uttleylike was nominated by the big man's very own grandson!  Honestly, I am not making this stuff up.

Men Who Look Like Roger Uttley, No 6: Roger Lloyd-Pack

Thanks to Karl Peters for sending this corker in for us.

Lloyd-Pack is perhaps most famous for playing uber-stupid Trigger in the seemingly never-ending sitcom Only Fools & Horses, in which he was the butt of many jokes and gags due him being very, very thick in the head.

Our Roger is also very thick in the head, plus the moustache, the shoulders, the thighs, the guns and in his capacity to destroy South African back-rows.  I know which one I'm more impressed with.

Men Who Look Like Roger Uttley, No 5: His son, Ben Uttley!

 

Imagine my horror when I opened my inbox to find an email from Simon Uttley.  "Oh shit", thought I, "it's a member of Big Rog's family who now wants to kill me and the blog".  However, like on 12,987 previous occasions, I was mistaken as Simon (Roger's son) was lovely and even suggested a few lookalikes himself, including his own brother!

So, here he is - Ben Uttley with the main man himself in a picture provided by Simon.  It's like a big Uttley love-in and we're all invited.  I've had better days than this, but not many. 

Men Who Look Like Roger Uttley, No 4: Dodie from Rab C Nesbitt

A video special this week, sent in by eagle-eyed reader Duncan.  Here's Dodie, an incidental moustachiod character from the classic Scottish comedy Rab C Nesbitt and now bona fide Uttleylike.  Also, check out David "Doctor Who" Tennant in an early role as Davina the barmaid.

The relentless assassin from No Country For Old Men and the relentless second-row assassin from our country who is now an old man.  Peas in a pod.

Ed Hoadley, the reader who sent us this corker takes it from here, "Given the choice I’m not sure which I’d rather face: Uttley charging at me while screaming 99!!! Or Chigurh calmly strolling towards me, gas canister in hand!!!"

The stuff of nightmares, I'm sure you'll agree.

Men Who Look Like Roger Uttley, No 2: Hulk Hogan

Second only to Richard Kiel in nomination popularity for an Uttleylike is the big man from the WWE.  Hulk Hogan (real name Terry Bollea) is a giant of a man with his own army of followers known as the Hulkamaniacs, he also has his own reality TV show, Hogan Knows Best. .

Our Roger is obviously a physical colossus on a par with the the Hulkster, and with our quest here on this blog underway it could be said that we have become Uttleymaniacs. However, while I would certainly pay double my license fee to see an Uttley Knows Best show it is unlikely to happen.

Hogan of course appeared as Thunderlips in Rocky III, but very few people know that Big Rog was the person Stallone wanted to play the part originally after the actor saw a documentary about the 1974 Lions Tour.

Men Who Look Like Roger Uttley, No 1: Richard Kiel

No sooner had I posted the news of our Uttleylikes quest, than a flood of emails flew into the old inbox suggesting this fella.  It was like you had all been sat there for years bursting with frustrated desire to tell the world about it, which is good for us and little bit strange all at the same time.

When you think about it, Roger and Kiel have a fair bit in common.  Both played the role of the enforcer in their careers, both large men feared by their enemies and both look like they would have had a career as a circus strongman/freak in another era.

Men Who Look Like Roger Uttley - the quest begins!

Bloodandmud.com are on a quest, a quest that many have tried before but ultimately decided it had little point and was bordering on grossly stupid.  Such criticisms have not stopped us before, and it won't stop us now either.

From this day forward we wish to find as many people as possible who look like former England and Lions lock Roger Uttley - and we need your help to locate them.

It can be someone famous, perhaps a family member (hopefully not your wife or girlfriend, if it is you have my sympathy), or even someone you randomly spotted in the street and snapped on your phone.  We want them all.
